11/04/10

Hey everyone! Sorry it's been so long since I've updated but I have been a little bit busy. Well lets sum up for the week or so i've missed. Nothing has happened. I have been up and down with the detox, which I am not proud of. But I am back on track and running strong. I ended up growing some good lookin wheat grass and been using my marine phytoplankton everyday.

The marine phytoplankton is some crazy stuff. I used to put it in a cup with some water and then down it, but now I am putting the drops directly on my tongue and its such a difference. I have this instant energy after a couple of drops. I wish I could see what it was doing to the inside of my body.

I'm not sure if I had said this before but I do understand and realize that the best way to eat is 100% vegan. I completely believe it is the healthiest way to live your life. I am not saying I will never be 100% vegan, but for now I'm doing like 85% raw vegan and 15% will include animal products. At least until I can phase it out. I would really love to be vegan one day but until then I am slowly making my way.

I had a bomb dinner tonight. Italian themed. I ate some organic pesto tortillini with marinara sauce, a romaine salad with homemade vinegerette, and for desert some mango strawberry sorbet. My meal was about 60% raw vegan and 40% cooked.

I made the vinaigrette with white wine vinegar, olive oil, dijon mustard, garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. It was actually AMAZING. Making your own homemade dressing is so fresh and so much tastier than a store bought dressing. I got the tortellini at Trader Joe's and it is just a pesto inside. My meal was really good. After this meal, I had an amazing mango strawberry sorbet!!

I started with some frozen mango, strawberry, and a couple of black berries. I added some agave nectar to this for a little bit of sweetness and blended these together.
It was so great. Very tasted and fresh. I love ice cream and this is a perfect way to get that type of desert in. AND only 109 calories. Perfect. :) Till next time...

Tomorrow is a new day!

Good evening everyone of my five followers! :D I am happy to have you guys as followers, to have any followers. So today was not the best day. As everyone knows we are all human and all humans make mistakes. I am not perfect and today I ate a big fat whopper and fries from the King. I shouldn't have and I know I'll pay for it tomorrow. The bottom line is I did it and I cannot take it back BUT I can do better tomorrow. Eating terribly is an addiction that I am trying hard to fight. I'm not going to give up but I am working on not beating myself up when I make mistakes which I know I will make.

I have been drinking wheat grass everyday since we got our new juicer. AND!!! I'm growing two different wheat grass flats. The first one I started as a test run and its growing great!
It's so cute and should be ready in a day or two! I'm also working on my bigger flank that is just starting to grow. I'm not sure if you can see the tiny bit growing but it's going. I'm really exciting to grow my own at home.
Once I have this wheat grass grown I am going to put up a how to on growing wheat grass. So simply and so healthy! Good night!

SUPERfoods

Hi guys! I have some great news! Superfoods. That's it. That's the news. Since I have been detoxing I have been doing a lot of research and came across a bunch of amazing, natural, healing foods. As with any thing, there are people that don't believe in the powers of superfoods. There are also a lot of studies that show physical evidence that these foods do work. I want to believe in these because I want to be healed, so Cass and I bought some to test them out. I have a couple favorites right now that I will be sharing with you.

On Finding Nemo Marlin and Dori get eaten by a huge whale. At first they aren't that scared because whale's don't eat fish, they eat krill and plankton. It eats mostly the plankton, but the krill it eats feeds off of plankton as well. Now the blue whale along with some other whales are known for living long lives and being very strong until they die. Marine phytoplankton are tiny plants and bacteria found in the ocean. They are responsible for 90% of our oxygen. Phytoplankton contains EVERY known mineral in it. It contain the essential fatty acids needed. It contains all amino acids. It contains more chlorophyll then any other natural product.

Here are just a few benefits of marine phytoplankton:

  • stabilize blood sugar levels
  • relieve pain and inflammation in joints
  • increases energy
  • reduces cholesterol
  • supports a healthy heart
  • enhances brain function
  • supports good sleeping habits
  • antioxidants
  • anti-inflammatory support
I could go on with this list. Marine phytoplankton is amazing. People with colitis have said that after 3 months of using it, they were close to healed. People that have CANCER say the same. There are plenty of diseases that people say they were healed from by using marine phytoplankton. If I could use this product and see improvement from my colitis, I would be beyond floored. Since my diet is changing and I'm also implementing marine phytoplankton, wheat grass, and some other foods, I'm hoping I could nip this colitis thing in the butt. We got marine phytoplankton and I am going to be using this and seeing the benefits for myself.

I used marine phytoplankton today. I put 5 drops in some water. I thought that it would taste strange, but it actually tastes a little like a tea or something. I was hungry when I drank the glass, and I was not quickly after. I also felt a small increase in energy after using this. For the next months I am going to be using it and I will update with any new findings. I will also be talking about more superfoods with my next posts. Thanks for reading and let me know if you have any questions about this post or any other posts I have. :D

Detox day 4 and exciting ideas

A couple of really great things happened last night and today. Last night my wife and I ordered from a really neat site called Farm Fresh to You. It's a company in California that grows 100% organic produce. They deliver to you weekly, monthly, or however you would like. We got to chose what fruits and veggies to get and we will get our first delivery on next Thursday.

We all know that organic is better for you than regular, but how much do we actually know about it? Last night I watched a documentary on organic foods and realized just how important it is to go organic. People that buy regular vegetables like myself, think we are doing something food for ourselves and putting healthy things into our body. Wrong. The APPROVED pesticides on non organic items are known to cause cancer and other diseases. I feel like so many people are mislead. People just don't know what they are eating. Organic is definitely the way to go. The only downside to organic is the cost difference since organic farmers don't have the government assistance like traditional farmers do. It is going to be a little more expensive, but it is worth the extra cost.

Next exciting thing! I started to grow wheat grass today. We'll the wheat berries are sprouting today!
I got these little guys at a local health food store (herbies) for about .75 cents a pound. Got the soil for about 4 dollars for a huge amount, and I got a bin at the 99. All in all I spent about 7 dollars to grow 2 huge trays of wheat grass. This will probably amount to 16 ounces of wheat grass in shot form for around 7 dollars. Get this amount in shots at a jamba juice or local juice store at that will cost you anywhere from $16-24 for that amount. It's so simple to grow and makes much more sense economically. Once I grow it all, I am going to put up more pictures and instructions on how you can grow your own wheat grass. If you look at my post below, you will see how beneficially it is.

Today we also got a cute little wheat grass juicer. You can use this for fruits and vegetables as WELL as wheat grass. So for the price its well worth it.

ALSO! We got this cool juicing bag from amazon. I have been juicing a lot during my detox and I really just throw a bunch of fruits and vegetables into the vitamix and drink. When I make a smoothie the vitamix alone works well, but I do want to have just juice at times so we got this bag! Put the mixture right inside and squeeze out the juice. It's a really neat little mesh bag.

Oh, just a by the way. This was meant to be about my process of healing myself -which it still will be- but I am also going to be sharing really good information about nutrition. DAY 4 today of my detox and going strong! I went to the doctor today and my hemoglobin level is at 11.5! Which is great right now! As far as the colitis, I have not seen crazy improvements but I do see small things that are good. There's a little less blood, less pain as well.

I've been hearing and learning a lot about super-foods, so I'm definitely going to be sharing more about that. Wheat grass is my current favorite, but there are more to come!

it's easy being green

Alright guys...we have all been to Jamba Juice or Juice it Up or somewhere that we have seen or even heard of wheat grass. I've always known that its good for you but I had no idea just HOW good for you. Check this out:

Wheat grass is unlike any other fruit or vegetable. It 70% chlorophyll...here's one huge reason why this is outstanding...chlorophyll closely resembles the molecules of human red blood cells. This stuff helps build red blood cells. Being anemic myself, this will help greatly.

Wheat grass is strong in vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and protein. It has calcium, phosphorus, iron, magnesium, potassium, vitamin A, vitamin C, all B vitamins, vitamin E, and vitamin K. Just two ounces of wheat grass is equivalent to 3 pounds of fresh organic vegetables and minerals. Wheat grass is very high in amino acids. Amino acids are the building blocks of protein. They help build muscle tissue, repair cells, and the clotting of blood. There are 102 minerals found in the soil on this earth. Wheat grass carries 92 of those 102.

Just reading about all of this is so exciting!! I don't care for vegetables that much and i NEED whats in vegetables. We are going to start incorporating wheat grass into our day, each day. All you have to do is juice it and drink it. I'm thinking of putting it into a fruit smoothie. I have been doing this with all my greens so I can get them in.

We bought 2 of these little guys today at Henry's Market. I'm really excited to give them a try tomorrow and see what kind of results I get. ALSO very excited that I am going to start growin' some grass!! It's really easy to grow the wheat grass and its much more cost effective!

GO OUT AND GET SOME WHEAT GRASS!!!!! It will get you energized, get rid of fatigue, boosts your immune system, clear your skin....NAME IT! At least look into it. :)

it starts...

HI! So today was my first day of this detox. All in all I feel good. I do start to feel hungry, but nothing some fruits and vegetables can't fix.

I have been getting a lot of rest, as the book has told me to do. Drinking plenty of water and just staying on task with this. I realize it is not going to be the best couple of weeks of my life but I also realize it is absolutely necessary if  I want to make changes and to see results!

I am hoping to start seeing some results within a week or two. When I do, I will first cleanse a bit more with a juice fast, and then gradually move into a full vegan diet. This is a huge step for me but I have plenty of support from my friends and my family. I know this is going to be a long journey but I am in it to win it. I finally have a clear mind about what should and should not be going into my body. It took me a long time to get here but I just thank God I finally am here.

no better time than now

Two years ago I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis at the age of 20. Since then it has been an uphill battle with myself and the doctors that have been treating me. Since day one I have heard the same two things over and over: 1. There is no explination as to why I have this disease 2. There is no cure for this disease.

I have been prescribed dozens of different medication with very minimul sucess. About 5 months ago I became so sick and anemic that I had to have 3 blood transfusions and multiple iron treatments to become stable again. I believe that the doctors that have been seeing me have done what they know to do and I do not blame them for anything that has happened.

About a year after I was diagnosed I began to feel a lot worse, phyiscally, mentally, and emotionally. I started to become really unmotivated about almost everything. Around this time my colitis became much worse then it did in the beginning and it is that way to this day. Until this time I didn't really take what I have seriously. Once I started really researching UC and understanding what was going on, I got more scared and more motivated to do a good thing for myself and the people that love me.

I came across the teachings of Dr. David Klein when researching natural ways to help Ulcerative Colitis and to my surprise his teaching reveals a way to CURE this disease. Having the disease himself for 8 years, he was able to cure this in himself and 1,000+ patients since. The secret to his success and many of his patients success is pretty simple. Detoxify the body of all the toxins you have continuoulsy eaten for years and years.

Our bodies are self-healing. We are not meant to suffer. Colitis is primarly caused by dietary lifestyle. Animal meats, cooked oils, and refined whear products are largely indigestible. Colitis is inflammation in the colon. Inflammation is when toxic matter, gases, microorganisms, and build up reach a crucial level, the body then acts as a health-restorative purification process called inflammation. In other words, my colon has been attacked all these years from the bad food I have been eating (without a care in the world) and now its just so hurt that its trying to heal itself.

Well I'm stepping in, poor colon. For the next weeks I am going to be detoxifying my body of all the toxins inside by taking on a limited, vegan diet consisting of fruits, vegetables, and raw fruit and vegetable juices. Once I have detoxed completely I will move to a regular vegan diet. I do not want to refer to myself as a 100% vegan because once I am healed I will not say that Im never eating animal products again. But my eating habits cannot continue like this anymore. I am going to make myself better.

Tomorrow is my first day on this detox. For the next weeks I will be needed a lot of rest, whole foods, juicing, peer support, and proper excercise. I feel really good about this and I will be updating day by day on my improvements. Everyones support is really appreciated and if anyone wants to learn more about what I am doing, ask me and I can send you an email with some information to back up what I am doing. I have researched this and I am doing this safely. Thanks everyone!! ♥
